Here we are, at last! This one took longer than I expected as “life-the stuff that happens while you’re busy trying to do something else” has been intervening for the last month or so.
I also had a crisis of confidence with the “moon” in the design. It began life far too large and looked like a banana. This was not good. So I unpicked and re-hooked it. Now it still looks a bit banana-ish but not as obvious! That’s the wonderful thing about rag rugs – you can design as you go along.
The cushion measures about 17 inches square. It’s backed with royal blue heavyweight corduroy, as usual sewn to the rugwork by hand. This takes about 4 hours to do, as you have to oversew the edge loops of the rug to the backing to stop the hessian peeping through. (There’s no way this will go through a sewing machine unfortunately).
