Here’s the latest commission as a work in progress. The design is similar to “one I made earlier” but no two rag rugs are ever identical.Had some struggles getting the name to fit on the rocket but we got there in the end.
The finished cushion front. Now it’s time for the corduroy backing to go on. People often ask how to machine sew the backing on to a rugged cushion. The answer is – you can’t. The best way is to oversew by hand carefully around the edges from the right side, adjusting the backing as you go and making sure the thread goes through the hessian, the backing and through the hooked loops so the edge of the hessian is hidden. Fiddley and time consuming but worth it in the end!
